One night, his horse ran away into the wild. When the neighbors heard about this, they felt sorry for him. They thought he was very unlucky, but Sai Weng just smiled and said, "Who knows if it's bad luck or good luck?"
Time passed, and one day, the horse came back. It didn't come back alone; it brought another beautiful horse with it. When the neighbors saw this, they were amazed and thought Sai Weng was very lucky.
But again, he just smiled and said, "Who knows if it's good luck or bad luck?"
Sai Weng's son, a strong young man, loved the new horse. He spent his days riding it. But one day, he fell off the horse and broke his leg.
The neighbors thought it was very bad luck. But just like before, Sai Weng just smiled and said, "Who knows if it's bad luck or good luck?"
Soon after, a war broke out. All the young men in the village were taken away to fight. Many didn't come back. But Sai Weng's son was left behind because of his broken leg.
Things that seemed bad turned out to be good, and things that seemed good brought problems.
We naturally feel happy when good things happen and down when unpleasant things occur.
As humans, we are emotional creatures, and this is perfectly normal.
However, depending on how we perceive things and handle our emotions, we can minimize the impact on our mental and physical health.
In good times and bad, it's essential not to get carried away, not to overly rejoice, and never to give up.
